- Phase 1: NiQuitin Clear 21 mg/24 h, transdermal systems containing 114 mg of nicotine and releasing 21 mg of nicotine over 24 hours - first 6 weeks.
- Phase 2: NiQuitin Clear 14 mg/24 h, transdermal systems containing 78 mg of nicotine and releasing 14 mg of nicotine over 24 hours - subsequent 2 weeks.
- Phase 3: NiQuitin Clear 7 mg/24 h, transdermal systems containing 36 mg of nicotine and releasing 7 mg of nicotine over 24 hours - last 2 weeks.
How to Use
This tapering program allows you to gradually wean yourself off your physical need for nicotine.
NiQuitin Clear transdermal patches should be applied once daily, at the same time each day, preferably shortly after waking, and should be worn continuously for 24 hours. NiQuitin Clear therapy usually starts with NiQuitin Clear 21 mg/24 h and is then reduced according to the following dosage schedule:
Dose/Duration
- Phase 1 NiQuitin Clear 21 mg/24 h - First 6 weeks
- Phase 2 NiQuitin Clear 14 mg/24 h - Next 2 weeks
- Phase 3 NiQuitin Clear 7 mg/24 h - Last 2 weeks
Moderate smokers (those who smoke less than 10 cigarettes per day) are recommended to start with Phase 2 (14 mg/24 h) for 6 weeks, then move on to NiQuitin Clear 7 mg/24 h for the last 2 weeks.
- If you smoke 10 or more cigarettes per day, then start with: Phase 1 - NiQuitin Clear 21 mg/24 h for 6 weeks, then continue with: Phase 2 - NiQuitin Clear 14 mg/24 h for 2 weeks, then continue with: Phase 3 - NiQuitin Clear 7 mg/24 h for 2 weeks.
- If you smoke less than 10 cigarettes per day, then start with: Phase 2 - NiQuitin Clear 14 mg/24 h for 6 weeks, then continue with: Phase 3 - NiQuitin Clear 7 mg/24 h for 2 weeks.
NiQuitin Clear, transdermal patches, nicotine. Non-prescription drug indicated for the relief of nicotine withdrawal symptoms associated with smoking cessation. Treatment of hospitalized patients with myocardial infarction, severe dysrhythmia or hemodynamically unstable stroke should be carried out under medical supervision. Caution should be exercised in patients with diabetes and allergic reactions, atopic or eczematous dermatitis and contact sensitization. The risk-benefit should be assessed in cases of renal and hepatic impairment, pheochromocytoma, uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, gastrointestinal diseases and convulsions.
