Dandruff - Free your hair!
Dandruff is a common problem but there is no reason to live with this discomfort. There are several alternatives to eliminate the unpleasant white particles that mark the scalp.
When you think of dandruff, you almost always think of the small white particles that come off your scalp and land on your shoulders. But, in fact, dandruff can present different characteristics depending on its origin and severity. Two types of dandruff can therefore be considered:
Oily – corresponds to a manifestation of seborrheic dermatitis, a disease of unknown cause. There is an inflammatory phenomenon caused by excess oil due to the increased presence of certain fungi. This imbalance can be caused by hormonal variations or stress. The result is intense redness and itching of the scalp, with oily, yellowish scales that stick to the scalp.
Dry – may correspond to a milder form of oily dandruff or simply be a natural phenomenon of flaking. This flaking can result from faster renewal of scalp cells, the use of aggressive products and hairdryers, excessive friction, a diet low in minerals such as zinc and vitamins such as B complex, and even in certain fats. Itching, dry, very fine and white particles that are easily released are the most common manifestations.
The presence of scales that come off the scalp is enough to cause discomfort and embarrassment. However, it is possible to control dandruff with treatments that aim to reduce oiliness and eliminate excess dead cells. Whatever the approach, persistence and patience are always required:
- Products that remove larger scales that are adherent;
- Products that control fungal multiplication;
- Products that combat inflammation and itching.
In the form of shampoos and lotions, these are products that are applied to the scalp. For them to work better, essential gestures must be put into practice:
- If your scalp is prone to oily, wash your hair daily to prevent the appearance or worsening of dandruff;
- Wash your hair with warm to cold water;
- Wash your hair with a normal shampoo before applying the treatment product: this removes excess oil and flakes and activates circulation;
- Before applying the treatment product, separate the hair into sections so that the product is applied directly to the scalp;
- Avoid using dryers, foams and hairsprays, as they can damage or irritate the scalp, aggravating dandruff;
- Do not sleep with damp or wet hair;
- Eat a diet rich in zinc and vitamin B: fish, shellfish, vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes and fruits such as apricots are good foods.
