Nix cream is an antiparasitic agent containing permethrin at 1% w/w. Nix cream is indicated for the treatment of infestations by hair lice (Pediculus humanus var. capitis).
Nix is a creamy, apricot-colored liquid.
How to Use
Adults, elderly and children over 6 months of age.
For single topical application. Shake the bottle well before use. The contents of one bottle are sufficient for normal-thick, shoulder-length hair. You can apply more, but you are unlikely to need more than 2 bottles in a single application.
In most cases, a single application is sufficient to eliminate head lice and provide protection for two weeks. If necessary, the treatment can be repeated after 7 or 14 days. If live lice are found after 7-10 days of treatment with permethrin, the permethrin treatment should be repeated. If live lice are still found after 14-20 days, you should consult your doctor to establish suitable alternative treatment options.
Note : After treatment, lice may continue to move/wriggle for 24 hours. This is usually a sign of Nix cream-induced paralysis and not a sign of treatment failure.
NIX 10 mg/g cream is indicated for the treatment of infestations by hair lice (Pediculus Humanus var. capitis). NIX Cream is not irritating to the eyes, although it is advisable to take some precautions when applying it. In the event of any accidental contact with the eyes, they should be washed immediately with plenty of water. NIX Cream can normally be used by asthmatics, provided that they have not experienced any problems with its application. The use of gloves to avoid any possible irritation to the hands may be useful for nursing staff who apply NIX Cream with some frequency. The effect of NIX Cream on artificial hair dye and hair curling products has not yet been formally studied. Although complaints are extremely rare, it is advisable to initially apply NIX Cream to a lock of hair (e.g. to the ends of some strands of hair) before applying it to the entire hair and scalp. Read the information in the package leaflet carefully and, if in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist. For more information, see the information leaflet here .
